Only Tips on Wedding Planning and Savings. Period.

Truly I’m not a big fan of blogs. They generally stand for copious amounts of frivolous information posted for endless consumption. You’re never "caught up" on all the posts and you constantly feel "behind", overwhelmed with just too much of everything. But this is not that kind of blog!
We won’t post daily or on any set schedule so that we aren’t “forced” to create content, like every other site. We’ll just post when we have truly helpful information for your wedding planning.
This blog is intended to be a companion to our main site, so to get the most out of this blog, and in our opinion to have the best wedding planning experience, first:
1 – Download our Free Complete Wedding Planner binder and excel workbook.
2 – Browse our recommended Wedding Vendor Directory, printing the vendor listings you’re interested in
3 – Visit this blog periodically just to get some extra Wedding Tips, Tricks and Discounts

Statistics on the average American wedding cost vary, but the national average seems to be around $28,000 these days. And given that Los Angeles is by no means the “average” in living cost, compared to the entire country, it’s safe to add about 20% to that number in the LA Metro area.

So What Does That Mean?
It just means that most brides in Los Angeles will spend about $35,000 on their wedding, when all is said and done.

How Does This Affect You?
For one, it certainly does not mean that you have to spend this amount! It’s just good to keep this number in mind as you start budgeting and talking to vendors. The more informed you are, the more control you’ll have when negotiating with vendors and the less stressed you’ll feel overall.

Where Does All This Money Go?
Again, the numbers always vary depending on personal style and preference (maybe you like a lot of flowers, or want flying doves, or think a $5,000 cake is much yummier than a $1,000 cake, hey, no judgment. It’s your day.) , but typically brides find themselves writing pretty big checks in the following order:

Expense              % of Total Budget
Reception
Wedding Attire
Photographer
Flowers
Music
Videographer
Ceremony
Stationary
Parties
Miscellaneous
Gifts
Decorations
Rental Items

Now that you’re informed of “the Big Picture”, the best thing to do is download our Free Complete Wedding Planner and glance over the breakdown of the Categories and Budgets in more detail. Print it all out but don’t fill in anything just yet.

We’ll discuss how to research and save in each of these categories in the posts to come. This series covers:
